Many of the dates that you see in Onboard are driven by your policy effective date. This can include dues dates for tasks that need to be completed, or even a timeframe for reaching key milestones when using Onboard.
In this article, we’ll cover:
Understanding the dates on your Dashboard
Your Onboard Dashboard can help you stay aligned on key dates and timelines throughout the onboarding of your new benefits. The Onboarding Timeline provides a snapshot of the full onboarding process and your progress towards reaching your benefit effective date.
The Important Dates section of your Dashboard works with the timeline to highlight key dates to align around during a particular phase.
This may include your effective date for benefits, due dates for tasks that need completed, or an estimated time frame for work that is with the Sun Life team. The information appearing in this section will update as you move through each phase in your timeline.
During Info Gathering you may see your enrollment event dates (if they were provided when completing the Company Profile) or due dates for certain onboarding tasks (providing your prior carrier bill, submitting your employee elections, etc.).
Some phases will show estimated timeframes for work that is with Sun Life.
- Review & Validate:5-6 business days.
- Plan Approval:3-5 business days.
- Contracts & Billing:4-6 business days.
Please note: The estimated time for these phases may increase during the peak enrollment season (Mid-November through the end of January)

Tasks with due dates should be completed in a timely manner so as to stay on track with your timeline and policy effective date.
What happens if I don't meet a date?
If you are at risk for not meeting your timeline or task due dates, it is important to reach out to your Implementation Consultant to discuss.
