Emails are a helpful ways to stay connected and aligned when using Onboard.
In this article, you'll learn about the different types of emails you can expect to receive from Sun Life as you onboard your new benefits. This includes:
Welcome & account activation emails
When it’s time to sign in to Sun Life Onboard, you’ll receive a welcome email. This email provides instructions on how to get started with onboarding, and an activation link to set up your account if this is your first time using Onboard. You will also receive a confirmation email once your account has been activated. If you have used Onboard in the past to set up benefits, you will get a welcome email with a link to sign in using your existing credentials.
For more on how to activate your account, or sign in help, please see our article on Signing in to your account in Sun Life Onboard.
Activity notifications
Activity notifications help you stay on top of important actions or requests in Onboard. You will receive an email notification when:
- A kickoff call with Sun Life is requested or details have been edited
- A DocuSign form is ready to sign, initial changes on, or download as completed
- A voluntary deduction report (VDR) from Sun Life has been uploaded for you to view in Onboard
- An actively at work status is needed to identify employees who are not actively at work
- New employee enrollment resources have been uploaded and are ready to view
- An ongoing service call with Sun Life is requested or details have been edited
These notifications are sent to your inbox in real-time, keeping you aware so you can follow up as needed.
Milestone emails
Throughout your onboarding journey you will receive timely emails when you reach certain milestones like completing info gathering, reaching risk acceptance, or preparing for ongoing service. These emails may provide helpful guidance, an overview of next steps, or highlight any actions you can take.
Due date reminders
Due date emails are helpful reminders of upcoming due dates or tasks that are past due that require your attention. You will receive reminder emails:
- 5 calendar days before tasks are due
- On the date tasks are due
- 5 calendar days after a task due date, and every 5 days after until the task is completed
Please note: Completing a task will remove it from the reminders. Due date emails will no longer be sent when all tasks are completed.
Tasks should be completed in a timely manner, and past due tasks can impact your overall onboarding timeline. If you are concerned about reaching a due date, or are having difficulty completing a task, please reach out to your Implementation Consultant.
