There are several tasks in Sun Life Onboard that may require a file, document, or form to be uploaded (Ex: Submit Prior Carrier Certificates, Submit Prior Carrier Bills, or Submit Enrollment Elections)

Uploading a file
You can upload one or more files by clicking Secure Upload and browsing for files on your computer, or by dragging and dropping the file into the upload modal and selecting Submit for Review.
- Tip: If you have benefits with more than one effective date and/or policy number, make sure you are uploading files under the task with the corresponding effective date or policy number.
What files are supported
- The maximum file size is 20MB per file.
- Most file types are supported, and includes .pdf, .doc, .xlsx, .zip, etc.
- File names must be unique and cannot match previously uploaded files. Duplicate file names will be rejected and will fail to upload.
Files will be ordered based on the date of upload (newest to oldest) and you’ll be able to view the file name, who uploaded the file, and the date it was uploaded.
The status of your task will change as files are uploaded.
Not Started Requested file(s) or documentation have not been uploaded. |

In Review One or more of the requested files or documents have been loaded and Sun Life is reviewing. Review typically takes 2-3 days. Additional files can be uploaded if needed. |

Completed The task has been completed and no further work is needed. |
Managing Files
Once a file has been uploaded to Sun Life Onboard you may take the following actions:

View - the following details will be shown:
- File name
- Name of uploader
- Date uploaded
- Rename - once a files has been uploaded it can be renamed to a unique file name

Delete - files should only be deleted if they have been uploaded in error
- Deleted files cannot be recovered
- When making corrections to a file you should upload a new version vs. deleting the original file

Download - individual files can be downloaded to your computer
- Please note: If your account is not set up with multi-factor authentication, you will not see an option to download the census file from Onboard.
During onboarding there may be instances where files are being sent back and forth between you and Sun Life (e.g. discrepancies on a census file). Sun Life Onboard should always be the source of truth for all files, forms, and documents to ensure an accurate and timely implementation of your policies and benefits.
